So, no, this is not a blog post about how I’m switching genres from crime thrillers to fantasy.
While I enjoy a few of those iconic stories, it’s not something that is even close to being in my wheelhouse of interest in writing.
After spending two weeks in Alberta, I’m finally back home and finding it hard to get back on track with my writing.
I’m not even thinking about the books I want to write this year.
I should feel guilty.
But I don’t.
What I feel is … unproductive.
And I don’t like that way that fits on me.
I love being efficient and productive and sticking to schedules and cranking towards my goals … yet I’m feeling like I’ve stalled out a bit.
So, instead of diving back into plotting Book 3 of Julian and Mena’s story, I decided that I would dip my toes back into writing by revising the parts of The Accidental Hero that need to be updated to sync with Book 2.
There and back again! (Get it??? Or is that too much of a stretch?)
As I’m going back through the novel, there are so many things in the story that I’d forgotten about and was like wow! I like that, don’t remember writing it but, that’s pretty cool.
Amazing that as an author, you forget things that you put in your novels. I checked around and it’s not just me, other authors are in the same boat.
Over the next few weeks (i.e., while the editor is beating up Book 2, sequel to The Accidental Hero), I’ll give you a sneak peek behind the scenes look at some inspirations to certain things that I included in The Accidental Hero (without having spoiler alerts for those who haven’t read it yet … and speaking of that, why haven’t you??? It’s a good book. Give it a try. Go on. Pick up a copy!)
In this episode, I talk about my thoughts on writer’s block, get a visit from “future Angel” and brainstorm how my bullet journal will help me get back on track.
